STAY CLEAR FROM 140 BHP!!!!
40%
2006 Audi A4 Diesel Manual Sedan by John • 5th April 2013
Had a 2.0 litre Diesel 140 bhp. The worst car I ever owned. It was constantly breaking down and when I would bring it to the Audi garage all they would say 'that part goes in them all'.
I could never go on a journey with either the car breaking down or worrying about it breaking down. It was very expensive to repair with the last bill costing me €1,800 and it out of action for 1 month.
It was an S-Line with big wheels which costed a small fortune to put tyres on and the ride was extremely bumpy. Very poor space inside and arm rest and glove box constantly breaking. Very poor build quality.
The only positive was it had great power when running well.
Not a good car.

2008 Volkswagen Passat Diesel Manual Sedan by Mickey Pickace • 5th April 2013
Own a 2008 Passat 1.9 Diesel. We do big mileage and this car is fantastic.
Very roomy and comfortable. Very economical averaging 50 - 53 MPG.
I cannot speak highly enough of this car. It has 145,000 miles on the clock. Fly wheel was replaced 15,000 miles ago but every car needs maintenance from time to time.
I had a number of Audi A4's before this car and I would rate the Passat much higher for reliability, comfort and space.

Best car I have ever owned (12 yrs and 140000 miles later). Two front disc's and a starter motor was all that was required in that time/mileage. Totally reliable and nice to drive. Can't be bad to that. Well done Honda.

2005 Renault Megane Diesel Manual Hatchback by mickycub • 2nd April 2013
In 2009 I bought a used Renault Megane 1.9Dci (2005) with 27k miles on the clock. I paid £6k for it and initially was very pleased with the car and it's performance. It gets plenty of mpg, and is actually a really nice car to drive.
But then the problems started. First the electrics started to go. The electrics in the driver window failed and needed to be fixed. Renault agreed to pay 50% of the bill. The glow plugs need to be replacement on a reglular basis (check injection message will appear on the trip computer)
Then, with 76k miles on the clock, the megane started to burn an alarming aount of oil. I replaced the oil filter and gave it a good flush out. But to no avail. One week later the Turbo blew on it. This can cost from £600 to £1000 to replace.
I ended up selling it on for virtually nothing after doing a lot of research on the web and came to the conclusion that the blown turbo was only the beginning of the problems.

Before you buy a Renault Megane (03 onwards), PLEASE PLEASE do some research on the web and I guarantee you will look elsewhere. Just do a search for "Renault Megane turbo failure" or "Renault Megane engine failure" and you will see just how common this problem is with the Renault Megane.
If I could go back in time I would never have bought it and I can assure you I will never buy another Renault.

2006 Citroen C5 Diesel Manual Hatchback by Stevie G • 21st March 2013
The Citreon C5 1.6 HDI VTR is the best all rounder i have ever driven. I have driven hundreds of different cars over the past 30 years. It is comfortable, weel kitted out, smooth, reliable and this diesel for it's size returns amazing MPG. The room for luggage is fantastic. It isn't a rocket ship and it can, if pushed be floaty around tight corners but for normal everyday driving that most of us do it is first class. Cheap to service to. A1

1999 Seat Toledo Diesel Manual Saloon by Jenna • 18th March 2013
Had my Toledo for about 3 months. These cars are known for having puddles on the ground (which mine did) but all was well when I bought it apart from this. The driving is smooth and enjoyable.. But within this small time frame the clutch started giving bother.. And then the turbo. Had to sell it for scrap in the end. Never again

New Shape V40

2013 Volvo V40 Diesel Manual Hatchback by SK • 7th March 2013
I have recently taken delivery of the new V40 as a company car. Volvo are replacing the V30 & V50 models with this compact family hatchback. The first 2,000 miles have been good with an economical return of just over 50mpg. The cabin is well equipped with clever storage options and good overall comfort for the driver and passenger. The boot is however limited in size and leg room in the back for adults is also a slight issue.

The 1.6 diesel is efficient without sports like performance, although with £0 road tax and falling within a low company tax band suits my needs. Overall the V40 should provide more competition for the likes of the BMW 1 Series, VW Golf and Audi A3.

love this car, as all petrol hondas they are trouble free.
For a 2.4 it isnt bad on fuel, not great for short town driving, expect around 22mpg, although it can do 45mpg on long journey.

2005 Vauxhall Zafira Petrol Manual MPV by Tim • 6th February 2013
We've had our 1.6 petrol manual Zafira since it was 3 years old (ex-Motability car). 70,000 miles in 5 years and still on original clutch, and exhaust. It does about 38 mpg, which isn't bad for a big car. Running costs have been minimal - timing belt / water pump, tyres, brake pads etc. The AC has packed up, probably needs a new condensor but we can live without it - it wasn't great when working anyway. It doesn't rattle or leak. My wife loves it, great family car which we plan to hold on to for as long as we can.

2005 SsangYong Rodius Diesel Automatic 5 speed MPV by John • 21st January 2013
Owned a Rodius for 4 years and bought second hand. This really is such a practical car, having 7 adult size seats and a huge boot to rival any estate car. Climate control with roof aircon vents and a seperate heater for the back seats.

Reliability has been great with a smooth Mercedes sourced engine and Auto gearbox. Fuel consumption around town is 30mpg and fully loaded with 7 and lugagge got around 37mpg. Only 'breakdown' was a leaking Power steering rubber hose. Servicing has been under £200 a year.

It doesnt feel as big as it looks when driving.

I dont think there are any other MPVs out there that rival the car for £ value that this offers
